Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy and the Super Science Initiative.

Professor Andrew Lowe
Professor Andrew Lowe graduated from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, with a PhD in Plant Evolutionary Biology in 1997. Since then he has worked in Australia and internationally in a broad range of basic and applied research in ecological, evolutionary, biodiversity and landscape genetics and genomics.
His predominant research interest is ‘how do plants survive and adapt to anthropomorphized landscapes?’ His research aims to understand and develop management strategies for a range of landscapes: historical, contemporary and future; intact, fragmented and exploited.
Professor Lowe is currently Associate Science Director for Australia’s Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network, a $45 million investment to improve Australia’s collection and sharing of ecosystem data. His work in TERN is focussed on establishing a network of scientists and infrastructure to describe the state and dynamics of Australian ecosystems, and share long-term ecosystem data sets. This has led to a new approach to build the infrastructure and community values necessary to share long-term ecosystem science data and knowledge for the benefit of the Australian ecosystem science and management communities.
