Forecasting Ecosystem Changes

The issue How predictable is your life? How predictable is nature? Why do we wonder what tomorrow’s weather will be like? If we could glimpse a range of possible futures, would we take steps to dodge the ones we don’t like and take actions that lead to the future we do want? In this webinar, our speakers draw upon examples from their respective science fields to demonstrate what is happening in the developing field of ecological forecasting and the emergence in Australia of an interdisciplinary community of practice around near-term (daily to decadal) ecological forecasts.

Speakers

  • Distinguished Professor Belinda Medlyn (Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University)
  • Professor Glenda Wardle (School of Life and Environmental Sciences, The University of Sydney)
