Resilience in Australia’s ecosystems

Fire, flood, cyclone, disease, climate change …will our ecosystems recover, will they change into something else, what are the thresholds, will we detect the transition before or after the fact?

Speakers:

  • Dr Ian Cresswell – What do we mean by resilience and what do we know about the multiple factors that interact to determine resilience capacity?
  • Dr Anna Richards – Is it possible to develop a framework for assessing ecosystem resilience?
  • Professor Lindsay Hutley – What we can learn about ecosystem resilience from long-term monitoring – stories from the North Australian Tropical Transect (NATT) gradient, which extends ~1000km south from Darwin.
