TERN’s long-term monitoring is carried out using world best practice protocols. However, in the face of changes in climate zones, we don’t yet have much of the ecological evidence to answer questions about optimising management for species survival. Is it time to complement passive long term data-gathering by continental-scale ecosystem observatories like TERN with large scale field manipulation experiments?
How do such field manipulations work? How would TERN’s multi-scale plot network complement such long-term field manipulation? These are some of the issues our panel will work through.
