The Adelaide offices at LTERN are abuzz with the launch of the group’s website for the Transects for Environmental Monitoring and Decision Making, TREND.
TREND is part of the TERN initiative and is funded by the South Australian Premier’s Science and Research Fund. It involves researchers from the University of Adelaide and the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), as well as the state’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) — and interested citizens.
On the introductory video on the home page, the director of all the TERN landscape research facilities in Adelaide, Professor Andy Lowe, describes the role ordinary people can play in understanding the impact of climate change in South Australia. It is because it is an important part of TREND that it has been allocated a dedicated part of the website.
Citizen scientists will be able to contribute data to the study of climate change in South Australia, as well as find out what scientists are learning about changes in the local environment.
To find out more, explore the TREND website and play the video on the home page.
